bon...bref.

there are nights when i'm having very pleasant dreams and then i wake up before they can finish and that has got to be one of the most frustrating things.
i hate not having any resolution, even if it's about owning a pet elephant, my feet, or a handsome man with a beard. silly alarm.

i think my job is making me dumber and dumber. in all seriousness.
first: i've never heard about this whole "i don't want to give you my real name so use jane doe instead" thing. so i called a lady and called her jane doe.
her reaction was priceless.
second: archived is pronounced like arKived (hard c sound), not arCHived...congratulations me
third: i really need to learn the state abbreviations, moving often hasn't helped.
pennsylvania is PA and not PE. and yes, vermont is a state.
fourth: there are more, i just can't think of any at the time.

the missionary broadcast this weekend was beyond amazing! "A Work of Salvation".
it blew my mind in every way and i am so pumped!
go time people, go time.
check it out if you haven't yet, or just watch it again.
it's definitely worth your time!

do it here.

i finally finally FINALLY got the key to my classroom:]
i'll post pictures in the near future.

sleep time.

les choses qu'ils disent

some peeps say some funny things.
examples:

jason derulo always sings his name at the beginning of his songs...what if someone like bob dylan did the same?
oxford town, bob dylan yeeaahh! oxford town.
strange.

"agents please take out all tuber ware from the refrigerator as we will be cleaning it out today"
uh...i believe it's tupperware.

laurine got a text not too long ago.
mystery person: "hey! i heard you lost my number. this is sam, the man, the myth, the legend"
laurine: "uh, i think you have the wrong number"
mystery person: "oops...let's pretend that never happened"
smooth dude, smooth.

food network tonight.
"ask not what you can do for your country. ask what is for lunch." --alton brown
amen.
love that man.

i called a certain mr robert today.
me: "(typical opening) could i speak with mr robert please?"
mr r: "he's not here right now."
me: "would there be a better time for me to call back?"
mr r: "oh, hold on..."
[phone set down. picked back up. same person talking. weird voice]
mr r: "hello? this is mr robert."
it reminded me of school of rock and i had to stop myself from laughing.
smooth mr robert. smooth.

so glad it's the weekend.

à la menthe

for work i have to call both canandian and american numbers.
no offense, i prefer canada.
today: "why is america not answering?"
really though.

benedict the bunny joined our ranks at work today. welcome sir.

levin texted me a joke.
L: "i would was gonna make an unemployment joke. but it wouldn't work."
A: "try me."
L: "Amandine, read my previous text again.........."
A: ....(awkward cricket sound) "oh hahaha! ok, clarification...good."
facepalm.

océane and i went to sub zero for the first time and took a picture of ourselves. enjoy.
also, avoid the soymilk ice cream.
i tried to be sympathetic and all..."i would trade you but i don't like yours."
yeah, mint is better.
by the way, océane got into nursing school! not even surprised. round of applause please!
what a bomb!

when i got home i decided to chill to some sweet tunes and make some artsy things.
happy times:]

this song came up and i almost started crying.
i think i was tired or something (cough cough)
anyway, someone handsome should sing this with me, it would be beautiful.

and here's a grand quote from a grand man.
i think of a hero as someone who understands the degree of responsibility that comes with his freedom. --bob dylan
i've got some dang good heros in my life.

bed time.
tomorrow is friday.
bam.

sur une échelle de 1 à 15

1. i would like to play a new instrument this summer. suggestions?

2. samuel's emails make me laugh so hard! "he is a really nice and fun guy, but then again i didn't go on a date with him." silly kid.

3. i miss wearing a backpack, so i figured i would use one for work and it has proved to make me quite happy.

4 taking the bus is a drag, treating it like an adventure is a good idea.

that way time goes by faster. wearing a backpack makes it even better. and listening to these guys just makes it grand.

5. this made me laugh. a lot. levin gets me so well:]

6. today is stop and smell the roses day. no joke.

7. good song. stuck in my head allllll day. no complaints.

8. j-walked across state street today. twice. laurine: "we're such terrible people!!" as we're running...

9. wrote a rap for my mother, choreographed it, and performed it with my younger siblings. it was the bomb.

10. dry ramen noodles. tried them for the first time today. still think that's the strangest idea.

11. this sums up my day at work. everyday.

12. still waiting on my classroom.

13. i would like to go to the zoo, soon. join me if you care to.

14. buy me this and i will be your friend for all eternity and whatever comes after that.
am i begging? maybe...

15. birthday in 50 days. hollah.

mon papa

i tried to find something inspirational to say about fathers.
but i couldn't find anything specific enough to completely describe my papa.
so here is something straight from the heart.

he is
the best man in my life,
my hero,
my strength and support through the hard times,
the perfect husband to my mother,
my best cheerleader,
my favorite dance partner,
the only one who can tease me all he wants,
my wise counselor,
my best friend,
a shoulder to cry on,
someone i trust completely,
my financial advisor,
the greatest penpal,
one who keeps me in line,
my example,
a worthy priesthood holder,
one who magnifies his church calling,
my buddy when no one else wants to be,
one who shares everything,
the only person i sing hispanic songs with,
a rockstar,
so hip, so cool, so fly,
the perfect dad for me,
my number one,
definitely cooler than your dad,
and much much much more,

mon papa.

la fête des pères

today was a great day away from work. a glorious day.
just like every saturday should be.

also it was levin's birthday.
shout out to the coolest kid i know #bff

our family planned a girl's out and men's out day.
so while the boys went hiking (jelly) the girls went shopping at park city.
i added another pair of colored pants to my grand collection, as well as other things:]
i came home satisfied.

it was great to have kelsey join us as well!!
coolest sister-in-law in the world, hands down.

it is quite normal for us to be bored in some stores, so we make the most of it.
don't judge the huge feather...it's already awkward enough.

and sometimes i like to make some very serious friends.
i don't know why i didn't take one of these guys home.
or both.

in honor of our father we had a delicious meal.
i love father's day.
because my papa is the bomb diggity,
and definitely waaaayyy cooler than yours.

we made him a glorious t-shirt.
it's an inside joke so don't hurt yourself trying to figure it out.

océane made a fabulous dessert.
(picture doesn't reflect its awesomeness accurately)

and grandpapa "graced" us with his singing.
it was amazing.
i love my family:]

today was a well deserved saturday.

also, i once made these and was so excited about the process that i forgot to share a picture.

matthieu just asked me if i have a classroom yet.
(insert awkward cricket noise)

et alors?

there are days when you just need to vent
and today is one of them
i hate venting on my blog
but i figured it's the only place for now because i don't want to bother anyone

i hate and love people at the same time
yes it's someone in specific
yes it's beyond annoying
yes this person has hurt my feelings
no i don't think i'm over it, otherwise i wouldn't be venting
yes it was a long time ago...move on perhaps?
yes i wish they would make an effort
yes i already made mine
no i don't want a pity party
yes i want to feel relief
yes i want them to walk up to me and tell me exactly how they feel and then possibly never speak to me again
yes i want them out of my head
no i don't want them out of my life
yes i wish i could ignore them
no i can't
yes i'm jealous of the way they seem to feel fine

on a different wave length...
according to grandpapa americans don't know anything. at. all.
example: we were driving around american fork and came across some dental building of some sort and saw that there was a miniature stonehenge outside (why? i don't know...)
grandpapa: "do you girls know what that is?" (océane and i)
us: "yes, stonehenge" (duh)
grandpapa: "good. that's probably because you're cultured and french and have an education. if you asked any regular american they would have no idea." (that's it. no arguing.)
us: (awkward cricket sound)
i love my grandpapa:]

aaaannnnnndddd
océane and i bought this beauty:
so excited! only five dollars.
this will look great wherever we live in the near future.
i. will. have. the. best. roommate. ever.
(that's it. no arguing.)

une clarinette

la classe

yesterday i went all the way to provo to get keys to my future classroom, keys to the school, and a laptop.

assistant principal: "so! amandine! you have a brand new classroom! let's check the map to see where it is...oh yay! it's a portable! (mini building not attached to the school) oh wait, it doesn't exist yet..."
wait...what??

janitor: "we have a couple of folding lawn chairs, and a playground, you could work with that!"
not funny
principal: "you know, these days they're embracing learning in the world outside:] it would be great!"
not funny at all

turns out i have no idea what my classroom looks like, when it'll be here, and everything else i should be working on right now.
the laptop locked me out and i finally figured it out 24 hours later.
at least i have a key to the school. a school armed with a system that'll get the cops there and me thrown to the ground and patted down apparently. i'm so excited:]

grandpapa says it'll be great to have a virtual classroom. haha, no.
grandmaman says she'll buy me a geranium so i can claim my territory until the portable gets here. haha, yes.

histoires

one of the funniest things i witnessed this week was grandpapa discovering google images.
i wish i would have filmed it...
gp "you mean i can type in beaver, and then it'll show me about 300 pictures of beavers??"
us "well, more like thousands..."
gp "so if i type in raccoon, it'll show me about 300 pictures of raccoons??"
us "well, more like thousands..."
that man.

so my job is decent.
two very bothersome things stood out to me this week though
1. people "shushing". i hate that sound more than anything on this planet, especially when i'm the target.
2. the bathrooms are used by everyone, regardless of the "women" or "men" sign...awks.

i have learned some things about driving and car.
1. newer cars are annoying, i can't tell the difference between heating and the AC, océane knows.
2. driving is one of my favorite activities.
3. i can't wait to own a car.
4. you can make very good friends at red lights
--example a: océane and i pull up to a red light and see a man singing to "fat bottom girls" by queen. yes, i enjoy that song, but he seemed to enjoy it a whole lot more. you know when people sing along to their music knowing that everyone else is watching, so they try and act cool? yeah, he didn't care at all. the guy had his top down and was singing his little heart out, loud.
--example b: i myself experienced example a. my car-to-be has no stereo so océane and i must improvise for the time being which resulted in me singing "never say never" by justin bieber, loud. when i pulled to the red light only a few feet ahead, some old lady in the passenger seat turns and looks at me. i try to act cool, but yeah, we all know that's not possible, so i burst out laughing and wave at her. her response: "oh, don't worry. that's a good song!" embarrassing. whether it's more for me or for her i'm not sure yet.

one of the dumb things i said in the past: "i'm so excited to have my own place!! i'll be able to mess it up...and then clean it..." :]

once upon a time, matthieu, kelsey, océane and i went to panda express.
a man was walking around asking people to borrow a phone.
he looked really lost and it was a little sad.
the cashier kindly let him use their store phone, which he did.
he then proceeded to ask other people to borrow a phone.
(i'm guessing he forgot about the one in his hand...)
one guy told him to check at the business next door.
so he did, leaving with the panda express store phone.
yup, just like that.

once upon another time, océane and i went to a paint store so we could take care of the deck.
a man had just finished paying and says,
"so, is anyone going to carry this out for me? (he had about 5 buckets of paint)
it's friday and i don't want to work (why are you here then?)
also, i just got a massage (and...?)"
he then walked out the door.
i blame it on the fact that he was fat and lazy, because he was.
so obnoxious.

things have been good, really good.
sometimes i feel like this sums up my life.
it’s fantastic!

i’ll be honest, work gets extra boring somedays, ok everyday.
i started doing origami to keep me both entertained and alive.
and then everybody and their dog decided to do the same, so we’ve got a cool little club going, and folded shapes and animals all over the place.
goal: fold 1,000 paper cranes this summer...it will be epic.

never say never.
no, this is not an i-love-the-biebs-let’s-listen-to-all-of-his-music-all-day comment.
just don’t say never to things because you’ll end up doing them anyway either by force or just because you realize how dull your life is and how you need a leetle excitement in your life.
first hand experience, i said i would never put any color in my hair, ever.
then i considered it and got my hair done the ombre way.
ok. ombre? apparently americans are more capable of pronouncing it than i am. hello, french word, french person, correct pronunciation.
but no, it’s pronounced like “hombre” (spanish) yeah, no, i don’t want a man on my hair.
hair is done, i don’t usually blab about that stuff, but i’m happy about it. it looks good, real good.

the fam bam has been gone for five days so océane and i are home alone.

that movie freaked me out when i was little. i’m over it, i promise.
we’ve been having a grand time getting home from work, making food, watching the food network, and going to bed.
nicki graced us with her presence one evening. always a pleasure!
i’ve also taken the time to visit some peeps in provo because yes, people grow up, and people are getting lives, and people are moving away.
fact: i have fabulous friends.

“oh, and by the way, since you’re working for us now, how about a free laptop?”
:] don’t mind if i do.
in less than a week i get my classroom! so beeeyyyooonnnnnddd excited to get going!!
this includes a key to my class, a key to the school, and yes, a laptop.
score.

once upon a time i lived in england. there was a fish 'n chip shop right down the street. we would go there every now and then and i remember maman getting potato wedges.
you see, she pronounced it potato wedgies.
so up until about a year ago that's what i thought they were.
potato wedgies.
