monday funday

Today was so busy.
Woke up at 6:15 AM and I blame my family entirely.
ate
showered
began the day

bought things I need for china:)
applied for a credit card to bring to china
went to the library to find books about china
yard work. three words: too dang hot.

I did EVERYTHING with samuel and mom today and enjoyed it quite throroughly
sam and I are going to start a band in the fall. be excited. more news to come:)

we bought so many plants from home depot...and then realizing that we didn't have any scissors for the inconvenient rope that held the trees together, we used keys and nail clippers. quite entertaining!

Olimpia called and it made me super happy because I was waiting all day for something like that to happen.

I had this insane craving for fries "late at night" (according to mother) so we swung by McD's (which was closed at 9:30 pm due to a power shortage...the lights were all on and we still got food) I downed a large fries in 10 minutes, plus 10 chicken nuggets. America #1.

If I could post about my excitement for the end of this week to come, your computer screen would explode, so I'm being considerate and simply saying that I'm stoked.

I'm sure more happened, but I'm too tired to bother about it for now.

Hivers 2012: Résumé

I didn't blog once this entire semester
yet soooooo much has happened!
so here is a brief summary of some of the wondrous adventures I had

first off, I grew much closer to my family especially my mom
my parents and my siblings are my greatest and closest friends
they truly rock

 Sushi trip with the roommates:
(plus Michelle)

Bethany got her mission call:)
Paris, France!!
She's going to be quite amazing!

Olimpia....
that's all.

I'll always love the fact that Marissa came along on our crazy adventure and was satisfied not eating the sushi but simply drinking water.
she's always so classy and composed.
too much grace!
I don't think she ever got enough credit for how hilarious she is!
truly, laughing with Marissa is my favorite thing ever:)
I'm glad she'll be living in the FLSR again.
more fun times to come for sure!

Amandine + chopsticks =

winking??

And then there's Bradley:)
what a fantastic fellow he is!
We all took a trip to the Cocoa Bean.
Him, not knowing that it was basically a place for women conventions cam anyways and then ended up going down the street and buying himself some burgers.
what a man

I'll never forget how tasty it was.

Ok.
This pic was for Elvera's class.
This is my favorite.
Mainly because Olimpia is dressed like an Indian
and Bethany represents the white population of the world!
hahahaha
also, our apartment just loved to embrace diversity and various cultures.
we were always so kind about it:)

oh, and then there's the eiffel tower in the background...

when this fell on me during the night, best ever!
twas on bob's birthday:)
we are meant to be. I know he's waiting for me on the other side!

celebrating bob's bday and my half bday on the same day:)
no better way than to do it with cupcakes.
cupcakes that actually turned out well!
yes, 3 layers of icing
and a chocolate peace sign.

EPIC sweater making with bleach.
I started a revolution! The whole apartment complex worshipped me on a day to day basis for about two weeks, until they all had the grand idea to just make some themselves.
Amandine may just be a legend now in the sweater industry.

I received and sent out sooooo many letters!
Oceane wrote me diligently, and I replied faithfully.
Also, many other friends contributed to the happy pile pictured below!

I actually took college seriously this semester.
truly, it was a hard thing to do but I was dang dedicated to my school work
It's definitely paying off though.  good grades and satisfaction for my soul:)

also, my laptop legitimately died.
so here I am with my trusty rental laptop
a mac
.....never going back

HOLI festival was grand!
great people
great times
great pictures

BTW: I'm an amazing party planner
and decorator!
happy birthday Grant!
your apartment looked quite fabulous
thank you, self

and then there were those moments when Coleman would experiment with
the red balloon for quite a while.
not complaining,
we were entertained
yes, the balloon ended up floating in mid air for a few seconds
success!

 Second Practicum:
I was placed in a sixth grade class for a month and I fell in love with everything about it.
I am so excited to teach!!
I had the best experiences in that classroom and I will miss those kids
Mostly, I'll miss being called Miss G.C. for a while

Built a fort to celebrate the end of the semester.
Michelle and I realized that it's been a while so we improvised...with packing tape and blankets from three different people.
we then did the girliest thing ever and watched the notebook while eating gummy bears and popcorn.
by the next day it had fallen apart and it honestly looked like we had all gotten drunk and gone crazy...

 best location ever.
loved living so close to the temple:)

Highlight:
The Quote Wall
the grandest idea I have ever had and the one thing that truly bonded my apartment.
thank you Olimpia for the countless contributions!
I would pick a favorite quote but there are three reasons why I can't:
1. It might be racist
2. It might be slightly inappropriate
3. They are just all so good

 Kari-Ann's idea:
genius!
this was definitely put to use
in the most loving way

and then I went back to the natural curly hair look.
I think I might go back to it for a while, i'm enjoying and so is everyone else so why not?

Furthermore:
went to my first concert
was an actual groupee for a while
performed with my guitar
named the guitar: Lewis
fell in love with the Malt Shoppe
kicked butt at the whole secret valentine thing
went stargazing
went off roading (I want a truck)
got messed with (strange confession/detail to include)
crepe fetes...
learned Haitian Creole
crushed
bought "how to be an explorer of the world"
and a hypotrochoid kit
and a little wooden man for sketching
wrote so many lists
made the sandwich game a serious part of my life

all in all it was a great semester
and I will miss all of the good times and awesome people

oh, and I'm going to China in 6 days!
