Les sentiments

Heavenly Father places truly amazing people in my life.

I am so grateful to him for that.
It's comforting to know that I am loved.

I would say something more profound but sometimes words don't express my feelings appropriately.

I've often been told that painting or drawing out feelings helps put things in perspective.
My etch-a-sketch was the only thing available
and this is what I came up with:

so much for that.

being without a phone charger is a total pain.

Tôt les matins

the reason why i didn't blog last night.
the reason why i stayed up til 1:30 am.

 so proud of this!
it's even better in real life...

BUT i want to blog about yesterday anyway, since it was such a fabulous first day of the semester
i started off my morning with this guy right here:

i mean, who wouldn't want to exercise with him?
i will take a class from him one day.
the man is 64 and still going strong.
go richard simmons.

this was on my window sill...
i thought the snow and ice was supposed to stay outside

it was quite a successful day in relation to my outfit. no photos because i don't like that.
just let your imagination run wild!......

i walked into one of my classes and a guy legitimately started clapping and cheering my name.
as enthusiastic as i was to see a lot of people yesterday, i did not clap for them.
it was flattering nonetheless.
he did yell out, "amandine! this is your fan club right here"
referring to himself and three guys i had never seen before.
i must be more awesome that i thought!
i wouldn't mind being cheered on every time i walk into class though.

people, i have a legitimate fear of a bird pooping on my head.
it is bound to happen to everyone at least once in their lifetime.
and when a whole bunch flies by, it just increases your chances.
not appreciated

i met someone at the intersection by my apartment and he struck up a random conversation.
i enjoy it when people take the time to say hello even if i will never see them again.
i need to be more genuine and kinder with people, complete strangers.
plus it's fun to make friends.

there are now 3 movies in my movie collection, yet no thumbellina
ugh.
i know nicki, i know, cheap on amazon.

i am in dire need of a phone upgrade.
charger broke last night, hence the phone did as well.
maybe it'll be a graduation gift to myself.
dead phone=no alarm.
result: i sleep on the couch and put the timer on the oven...
yeah, i know how to use my resources!

also, capital letters should be banned from our writing system.
less trouble.
i hate writing out capital "i".

happy 2sday everyone.

Mon retour

New typing style. why not?

You may recall the list I created approximately 3 weeks ago.
Here it is in all its glory.
I feel so accomplished.

Must do's over the break:
-Make some leg warmers (began/attempted)
-Take millions of photos (well not millions, but plenty)
-Sledding
-Build an igloo (although it wasn’t completed)
-Bake cookies
-See the lights in SLC (I hate myself for not having done this)
-Plan the next year  (more than once)
-Dance, and dance more (everyday)
-Play the guee-tar
-Write letters
-Apply for a job (work in progress)
-Sell clothes (no need to, DIY projects worked just fine)
-Make money (score)
-Build a fort
-Paper snowflakes
-Read some books  (parts of some books...)
-Breakfast at Tiffany's  (at last)
-Finish a quilt (top part yes!)
-Art projects  (did I ever...)
-Make a journal
-Record music  (if filming myself counts)
-Hunt for sweaters
-Get fat  (I probably gained a pound and a half)

20/23. that's 87% proficiency people.
I was 13% away from pure happiness.

I returned to provo today.
it was great to see the apartment again:) and the new room mates are awesome!

this is turning into a bag

also, here is a beautiful man
my love for Gong Yoo has been rekindled
someone take me to Korea.

new semester tomorrow.
other than the fact that I have a class in the SNLB (what the...?)
it should be grand!

good stuff right here:

When I Heard the Learn’d Astronomer
BY WALT WHITMAN

When I heard the learn’d astronomer,
When the proofs, the figures, were ranged in columns before me,
When I was shown the charts and diagrams, to add, divide, and measure them,
When I sitting heard the astronomer where he lectured with much applause in the lecture-room,

How soon unaccountable I became tired and sick,
Till rising and gliding out I wander’d off by myself,
In the mystical moist night-air, and from time to time,
Look’d up in perfect silence at the stars.

La couture

I began my morning listening to Beirut.
Do yourselves a favor and do the same.
Seriously.

Most of my day was spent sewing (not sowing... the mistake has been made before)
So I joined my mother's sewing class today.
She teaches little girls (11 yrs old) and my sister kindly took the time to teach me how to thread a machine...it's been SO long!

 The result:

I am quite pleased with myself.
It should be completed fairly soon.
All I need is the back, and the binding.
All of the fabric was brought from Africa by my grandma several years ago.
Beautiful.

I love friends.
Friends who care about you, years and years later.
Friends who call or text or message every now and then.
Friends who make true efforts.
Friends who listen to you at anytime.
Friends who love you no matter how silly you may be.
Friends who stick with you through the thick and thin.
Friends who bake you cookies.
Friends who laugh at your jokes.
My friends.

The semester starts in 2 days. YES!
This time a grand gathering and party at my place will be held.
Crêpes will be served.
Come one, come all.

We watched Lord of the Rings 2 tonight.
Just another reminder of how stressed out gollum makes me feel.
Everything he does...ugh.

I don't mean to brag, but my hair is the best.
It's so dang curlicious! (yes, that is a word. Thank you Philipp)

Happy Friday evening amis!

Et là, je suis malade.

As my sister left for high school this morning, the only advice I could give her was "good luck."
because that place is all about surviving...

As hypothesized yesterday, I did indeed catch a cold and it is frustrating to be sick at this point in time.
I sound like a man, my nose is super stuffy, and my head is pounding.
But I still managed to stay alive.
The worst is having to breathe through my mouth...trust me, sleeping like that is less than pleasant.
Nasty sound.

While listening to and grading missionaries today, I noticed that one kept saying "BAM!" at the end of every single one of his responses.
At least he felt accomplished.

Today I took a nap in the sunlight on the couch. Just like a cat. Other than the fact that it only lasted five minutes it felt quite lovely. I now have a deeper understanding for their lifestyle.

While in Provo, I dropped off all of my belongings I collected over the break.
I now live out of a backpack.
Even Lewis, my trusted companion was sent back to the apt...

After my second job (house cleaning) I noticed that my fingers were horrendous.
I nicknamed myself "pruney amandine" because I did in fact resemble a prune.
The lady I work for also complimented me on my "up-do" and how marvelous my hair looked.
I'm quite flattered, it looks that way every day.
I must simply be awesome.

After 20 years of my presence on the earth, I have finally gotten myself to start reading "The Hobbit"
I got 14 pages in before falling asleep. It's a start.

AND! I watched "Breakfast at Tiffany's". So classy. So lovely. I want to be Audrey Hepburn.
A busy busy day.

No photos. Don't hate. I'm just too tired.

But here's for a good good laugh:

Please watch this show.

Il fait froid

To begin:

And then I wonder why few people understand my sense of humor...

Today I ran into the principal of Edgemont (elementary school I volunteer at and would like to work at) at Costco while we were getting gas.
I wondered for a few seconds why he looked so familiar to me, and then realized that he could be my future boss...embarrassing. Not a problem though, I gave him an awkward wave a quick hello and everything was fixed.

I have been hunting down "Thumbelina" for weeks, possibly months.
The PG library only has damaged versions (I didn't know it was that popular).
If anyone has it in DVD form, do share the goods...
I need to live a complete life, and it's not happening
until I watch my childhood movie one more time.

Often, I go online and fantasize about things I will own in the future...

Maman has decided to decorate her living room.
This resulted in us taking a lovely walk in the hills across the street from our house.
Here are some photos:) of course.
I'm pretty sure I caught a cold though...it was freezing today.

I have just been informed that one of my most loyal blog followers
will be joining us for dinner tomorrow.
Nicki Preece, I can't wait.

Everyone should teach someone from the older generation to use Facebook.
It's an adventure.

Nothing much to say today (count your blessings)
I was checking my list of things to do during the break and I still have shloads to do.
good.

Je reste occupée

The best way to stay happy is to keep busy, and so I have been.
Definitely busy and slightly happier.

Remember these?

Well all the hard work FINALLY paid off.

All of the left overs will be hanging in my apartment. Score!
They will most likely be present at my wedding, some day in the far future.

The new years party was quite the success.
My body is sore from all of the dancing and festivities but it was so worth it. I'm welcoming this new year with arms WIDE open!

I had a little fun photographing the lights.
I'm a pretty big fan of these photos.

I have the most wonderful and loving mother in the world.
As I prepare to go back to my apartment in a few days, she bestowed upon me many many gifts.
What a blessing!
It's like a second chirstmas:)

Another pinterest success. (applause)
DIY t shirt bracelet.
Laurine and I had ourselves a dandy old time making these.
After which we had our own new year's celebration with ice cream and martinelli
since we were too tired last night.

Random thoughts/occurences (of course)
-I forgot how to spell carrots today... french and english are such a mess in my head sometimes
-I have been boycotting makeup for the past month and will most likely do so for the rest of my life
-cheese balls are the strangest ideas
-planning a budget was the best thing I have ever done
-only day 1 in 2013 and I already checked off two goals. points!
-my best friends are in my family
-my camera is my most loyal companion. the best gift I have ever received. ever.
-almond milk equals complete satisfaction
-more crafty crafts planned for tomorrow

Today I sing for you once again.
